Why Do We Celebrate Christmas?

FOR UNTO US A CHILD IS BORN, UNTO US A SON IS GIVEN.

‘For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace, there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice, from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.’
Isaiah 9:6-7

A VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD.

Only by an act of divine will could a virgin be with child. God was the author of such a miracle. Mary was the chosen vessel to bring in the Messiah into the world. When the angel announced to Mary that she would bear a son, she agreed, but she did not know how it would happen.

‘And the angel answered and said to her, “ The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. ‘
Luke 1:35.

A SON IS GIVEN.

A Son of Man had to be the one to offer Himself for mankind. No one was found in heaven and on earth who could be the representative for all mankind. It had to be a Son of Abraham, a Son of Man, a Son of God, God’s only Son, who would give Himself as a propitiation for all of mankind. Angels could not do it for man. The blood of animals was not enough. Only God’s Son, who was promised in the Book of Genesis, would be THE ONE.

He would be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. He was full of Wonder, a miracle worker. He healed the sick, raised the dead, opened the blind eyes, and brought great joy wherever He went. He was a Counselor, an instructor of the people, a teacher, who corrected the scribes and pharisees and taught the word of God to us all. He was and still is the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father. How could the Son of God be the Everlasting Father at the same time? Hebrews 1:1-2 says that He was the brightness of the Father’s glory and the express image of His person.
He is the Prince of Peace, who has brought peace between God and mankind. He has removed the middle wall of separation between Jews and Gentiles, and all of us can enjoy peace with God. We can all have access to God and enter the holy of holies beyond the veil. I pray that Jesus brings peace to you today, that there will be no war between you and God and that you will have peace in your heart.
